Use PHP 8.2 unless a script requires an older version. cPanel → MultiPHP Manager lets you set it per domain.
- Before switching, check your scripts' requirements - older custom code may need 7.4.
- After switching, load the site and check the error log in cPanel if something breaks; you can switch back immediately.
- WordPress, Joomla, Laravel and modern PHP applications all support 8.2 and gain noticeable speed from it.
